The fact that 2008 was a Leap year and the movement of some of the National as
well as MAA shoots the schedule is NOT
CORRECT. What is listed in the 2007 MAA Guide or the pocket handout schedule is
different then as to dates and times.. The
Website is updated. Copies of the updated schedule were also sent to your Club
Reps to be displaced at your clubs location.

Please make sure that youre CLUB and the MAA
has the CORRECT PERSONAL INFO. for you. Recent
pursuant of contact was deterred because of incorrect phone numbers. If you
move or change your phone numbers please make sure that both you CLUB and the
MAA has those changes. If not pertinent info. Or other
communications such as newsletters, and shoot registration forms will not and
cannot be delivered.
NAA members
please remember that you must renew your membership with the MAA each year
prior to shoot either the FITA Indoors or the FITA Field or Target. This also means that you must be a member in
good standing with an MAA Chartered club. Which for most of
you that is Oriole Archers. Please make sure that you renew your
membership and have proof of membership with you from that club when you
register for any of the MAA state championships. MAA membership is still $20.00.
Please add that along with an MAA application which you can download from the
MAA website listed above in the letterhead when mailing state tournament
registration to whom ever is running the tournament.
NFAA Agenda Items for Club Vote
Ron West, our NFAA/MAA State Director directed
the state secretary to send out the NFAA agenda items to the clubs for their
comments and votes, so they can be carried to the NFAA Directors conference in
February, just prior to the Vegas Tournament. The deadline for returning your
clubs opinion on the agenda items is February 10th. If you are interested in assuring your input
is given to the NFAA/MAA Rep, make sure you attend your clubs meeting prior to
the date. We will be updated on the results of MDs input after the conference.

are the registration applications for the first two state championships we will
hold in 2007. Directions, instructions, equipment and tournament rules are
included on a separate page this year, so you will still have all the important

applications will be SENT out later in the year, with your next newsletter. Please make sure you note to WHOM you are to
send your registration. Since we do not have a VP of Tournaments, we will be
having registration sent to who ever have been designated by the President to

as well as a VP of Scheduling. Both past

running. Please pass the word. Any question pertaining to this position

needed. Tutoring is available.
MAA Annual Awards Banquet
There was a discussion about
the Annual Archery Banquet at the meeting. It was agreed by the clubs and MAA
officers represented due to the low attendance that we should hold the banquet
at one of the club with indoor ranges.
Regular banquet halls are requiring 14 day prior headcount as well as
over a year booking prior to the date.
It was agreed that we could cater the affair at a club with an indoor
range. Also, people attending would not have to leave at a required time. The
MAA could pay the club a certain fee for rental and get info from the club each
year of a good place to get it catered.
Since we did not receive any invitations to hold the
event at any of the more centrally located Clubs we have had to revert back to
the conventional rental hall to hold the banquet. We were lucky at this very
late date to acquired Lisbon Volunteer Fire Hall once again, in

1. Change the Field round for the charity shoot
from 14 targets to a regular 28 target NFAA Field round. 3D shooter's
will be advised to start later in the day if they want to participate in the
Charity auction.
Reasoning: Poor participation has been reported due to
the fact that dot shooters want to shoot a full 28 target round.

2. Change the State 3D Challenge to State Marked
and Unmarked 3D State Championship and to recognize all NFAA classes. No other
organization classes shall be recognized for either state
Championship. All IBO shooters will shoot in the guest class unless they
are members of MAA/NFAA. They will then be placed in the appropriate NFAA/
MAA class.
Reasoning: Poor participation by MAA/NFAA shooters.

3. Change the
format of the State Indoors to the same as the current Mid Atlantic Indoors
format. Which is you can shoot once or twice but only
Reasoning: This should increase participation
for two reasons. Overnight stays at the location and other conflicts of
scheduling with work, School or other family activities.

4. Change our state
outdoor to prior the non-travel weekend prior to the Outdoor Nationals.
Reasoning: Most of the other states hold their outdoor

for all those who choose to travel to the nationals to participate in a
tournament of this level just prior participating in them.
